Abstract

Tests & Us - A Collection of Real Stories (Volume 3), edited by Vahid Nimehchisalem and Hui Geng, is an engaging collection that explores the intricate and often emotional world of assessment through personal stories from authors with diverse backgrounds. It is the third volume of short stories published by the international publisher Generis Publishing, following two previous volumes published in 2017 and 2023 (Nimehchisalem & Babaee, 2017; Nimehchisalem & Geng, 2023). Started as a humble assignment, this project has grown significantly due to the input of international writers. Stories have proven to be powerful tools for grasping and making sense of abstract terms and technical concepts, such as those in assessment. The ongoing success of Tests & Us, even beyond the original course, highlights the project’s potential for lifelong learning. The increasing number of volumes being displayed here indicates why assessment should not be taken to only be a measurement of someone’s academic performance. It covers the psychological and social dimensions of testing, making it a compelling read for anyone passionate about education. This volume continues the tradition of highlighting the human side of evaluation, showing how it shapes teaching, learning, and personal growth.
